Českou moderní krajinomalbu pak reprezentují díla žáků krajinářské školy Julia Mařáka a figurální malbu zástupci generace tvůrců Národního divadla. Umění 1. poloviny 20. století je zastoupeno zejména díly české avantgardy, tedy především členů skupiny Osma a Skupiny výtvarných umělců. Významnými díly je zastoupen kubismus ve své specifické české formě, vzniklé spojením charakteristického kubistického tvarosloví s barvou. Jednu z nejdůležitějších částí sbírkových fondů OGV tvoří početný soubor obrazů Skupiny 42, jejímiž členy byla ve 40. letech nastupující generace mladých umělců zaměřených na poetiku současné technické civilizace. Závěr instalace je věnován umělcům 2. poloviny 20. století.
